Hello! I’m Gaurav.

I am a naturalist with broad interests in studying the ecology and evolution of biodiversity, especially insects. My interests in this area developed from a fascination for photographing and watching butterflies in the biodiversity-rich Western Ghats of India, where I grew up.

I am currently stationed in Okinawa, a beautiful subtropical island south of mainland Japan, where I study the biology of ants for my PhD. I am advised by Dr Evan Economo, who leads the Biodiversity and Biocomplexity Unit at the OIST Graduate University. Prior to starting my PhD at OIST in fall 2018, I did a masters in Wildlife Biology and Conservation at NCBS, Bangalore. Please check out my research page to know more about my work or contact me if you wish to know more about me.
